How Free Walking Tour Bari was born
The Free Walking Tour Bari project was born in the spring of 2014 from the meeting of Anna and Giuseppe, two tourist guides from Puglia, and residents in the city, united by a passion for travel and Bari!
By participating in lots of Free Walking Tours around the world, Anna and Giuseppe have discovered an innovative and sustainable tourism model, which makes accessibility and contact with the territory its fundamental values.
In those years, the Free Tour formula had not yet taken hold in Italy: initiatives of this type were concentrated in large cities such as Modena, Rome, and Florence. In Puglia – and in particular in Bari – nothing of the kind existed yet.
For this reason, in 2014 Anna and Giuseppe decided to create the first Free Walking Tour of Bari, building a team of qualified guides ready to share the history and culture of our city!
The Free Walking Tour Bari project was born to restore the value of travel and discovery, offering an authentic like-a-local experience through interactive games, poetic readings, and historical videos.
But what makes our Tours truly special is the direct contact with the inhabitants who make Bari a unique city.
We aim to help travelers discover the city through the people who live here.
That’s why during our Free Tours you will get to know Bari by listening to the stories of those who live there: from Luigi del Ghiaccio to Vito Tarantella, from the extraordinary Ladies of Orecchiette to the groups of activists in the Carrassi neighborhood.

Today, the Free Walking Tour Bari team counts eight qualified tour guides: Anna, Maria, Stefano, Francesco, Michele, Giuseppe, Fabrizio, and Adriano. And we are always ready to welcome new tour guides who are passionate like us!
But our family also includes copywriters, social media managers, and graphic and web designers. In short, an all-round team ready to transform your trip to Bari into an unforgettable experience!

For this reason, we wish to expand our network of collaborations in the Bari area, coming into contact with tourist operators who share our same values!
Our values
Accessibility, awareness, authenticity, and passion are the values that found Free Walking Tour Bari and encourage us to cultivate good practices every day.
We want to create a tourism experience in contact with the city, capable of stimulating travelers through knowledge of local realities.
For this reason, in 2016 we joined Free Walking Tour Italy, the first network of qualified tourist guides that has embraced the concept of Free Tour to give life to new forms of tourism.
We are also proud to collaborate with other tour operators in Bari and local non-profit organizations, with whom we have carried out awareness and inclusion projects.
The #weareinlibertà Tour was born in this context in 2019, together with the Squola Penny Wirton of Bari. This was a solidarity Free Tour to explore the relationship between the present and the past through the stories of the Libertà district, a pole of multiculturalism and hospitality.
#weareinlibertà was led by girls and boys who came to Bari from all continents. Through their stories we discovered a city far from the spotlight, the very city described in the famous motto No one is a foreigner in Bari.
